I'm Published!

This last weekend several yarn shops in the Twin Cities had their annual Shop Hop. Each shop had an exclusive hand dyed yarn from local dyers in a colorway exclusive to their shop. Amazing Threads had this pretty yarn from Three Irish Girls in Duluth, MN-one of my favorite dyers. Several years ago a friend and I were attending the MN Opera and walking from the car to the theater, we were behind a woman wearing a shawl which my friend liked. I studied it and wrote up this pattern. I dug it out, made some revisions and this is the pattern Amazing Threads gave out on the Shop Hop made out of their exclusive yarn. This is done in worsted weight, but is also available in fingering. I forgot to buy my yarn yesterday when I was in the shop. (I did not make this sample as I wanted someone to test the pattern.)

Knitting Purchases

In Decorah, I bought the Elsebeth Lavold book which was on the post about the Vesterheim Museum.

These are two patterns I got at the Sow's Ear in Verona, Wisconsin. They are both patterns of Amy E. Anderson, a Madison designer.

A couple weeks ago when I was in Ely, Minnesota, I was in Sisu Designs where I got two patterns by local designers. The scarf, A River Runs Through It, was designed by Susan Saari and the yarn is Classic Elite Fresco, 60% wool, 30% alpaca, and 10% angora. The man's sweater pattern is Tree of Life Cardigan by Susan Catton.

Shepherd's Choice

Today I visited Shepherd's Choice with a friend. The shop is on the farm which has sheep and 2 llamas. Most of the yarn they have come from their own flock of sheep and is hand dyed in their dye house. In addition to yarn they carry the basic knitting supplies and some books. Their business originated with handmade natural personal care products like soaps, moisturizers, lip balm, and other bath products. Walking into the shop is a fragrant encounter. I did not buy anything! Because their yarn is hand dyed they do not have many skeins of the same color, so is best for small projects.
