The combination of a wonderful yarn and wonderful pattern made this a knit I didn't want to end.

Wildflower Scarf

My daughter in law grew up in Green Bay, so this yarn is very appropriate!

Pattern: WildflowerLace Scarf by Evelyn Clark.

Yarn: ArtYarns

Needles: US 4/3.5mm

This was a fun, easy knit. A good beginning lace project.

Where Are My Needles?

Great Grand Daughter, Rylea. I'm sure she's wondering where her knitting needles are.

Saturday Sky 10-13-10

Looking one way.

Looking the other way.
It looking like a cool day looking out the window and the room we were in was cool, but when I went outside it was pleasantly warm.

MN Knitters' Days

This is the present location of the first MN Knitters' Days at Silver Lake Camp in New Brighton, MN, many years ago. It was a strange feeling visiting the site a few days before I was going to the present day site at Villa Maria in Frontenac, MN.
Susanna Hansson was the instructor, teaching the Lapland mitten from Rovaniemi, Finland.

Miniature version, knit by an old man in Finland.

Showing the right and wrong side of the work.

Besides knitting, sometimes we sold something that didn't fit when finished. Nancy, on the left, knit this beautiful sweater which she didn't like the way it looked on her. Barb tried it on and it was beautiful on her. (I didn't think it looked bad on Nancy.)

Show and Tell is a highlight of the weekend! Karen's shawl was a highlight of Show and Tell.

There were also shopping opportunities.

This is a work in progress, showing the way it is worked. The construction varies a little from Norwegian colored work and Fair Isle.

A display of the work. It was fun to see the different color combinations.

Three Irish Girls Yarn

I have fallen in love with Three Irish Girls Yarn! In fact, I am fanatic about it as you can see by the pictures. I have purchased these just in the last couple months. I even convinced my husband to take a trip to Duluth for the day-the real reason was to see if Yarn Harbor carried the yarn. (They did!) This yarn is by a woman in Duluth, so I like to support local artists.

Westerly Sea Sock. 70% superwash Merino, 30% seacell (natural seaweed fiber). Color Adorn. I purchased this from someone on Ravelry who was destashing.

Beckon Stretch Merino, color Forest Primeval from Yarnista Sock Club. Yes, I joined that sock club, too.

Westerly Sea Sock, color Georgia Peach purchased to make Maia, a shoulderette by Romi Hill. I love her patterns and jewelry, too. Have also joined her shawl and pin club for 2011. I purchased these at Darn Knit Anyway in Stillwater.

Springvale Sock, color Smoke and Mirrors. 100% superwash Merino wool.

This is McClellan Fingering, 65% Merino, 25% Bamboo, and 10% Nylon, color Maura. Pattern for socks is Small Wing Socks from Box of Socks

Adorn Sock, color Passion Punch, 80% Merino, 20% Nylon. I purchased this at Darn Knit Anyway in Stillwater.

These are the Duluth purchases from Yarn Harbor. Adorn Sock, colorway Colleen.

Caps for Caleb

A friend of ours is giving away hand knit hats for a donation to raise funds for her two year old grandson, Caleb, who recently had a bone marrow transplant for some awful disease. These are the hats I gave to her.

These are hats from the upcoming Cottage Creation new pattern book.

Helix Hat, a free pattern on the internet-my favorite pattern for striped hats for children.

Saturday Sky 10-02-10

This weekend my daughter, sister, and I had signed up for a knitting camp in Ely, MN, but it was cancelled because not enough people had signed up. To compensate, my daughter, Gloria, and I went to Stillwater, MN. The trees are changing colors, and it was a beautiful day maybe getting up to 70, so everyone from the state of MN and WI was in Stillwater or at the orchards. As you can see, the St. Croix river is flooding from the rains we've had in September.

A gondola on the St Croix River.
This is Friday sky. I can't resist taking a picture of a beautiful sunset-this was from our back deck.
