It's a Girl!

This morning I received an excited phone call from my grand daughter. Her baby will be a girl-due July 30th. Of course I knew that-lately when referring to the baby I've unintentionally called the baby "her" . In the past, I proved I was right when a doctor looked me in the eye and said the baby being delivered was a girl because he read the ultra sound-I knew it was a boy and it was.
Last week I started this baby blanket for Rilea Beth.
Pattern: Fiber Trends Diamonds for Rhiannon
Yarn: Dale Baby Uhl
Needles: Size 6

Using my stash, I made this hat (sorry-Blogger rotated the picture and I don't know how to put it right.) I will be teaching this hat at Amazing Threads. It was a fun and easy knit.

Pattern: Sweet Peas by Susan B. Anderson available for purchase at http://SusanBAnderson.blogspot.com

Needles Size 7

Yarn: Cotton Stash Yarn-too old to be available.

Gothic Window Pink Sweater

Gothic Window Pink Bohus sweater is finished and I enjoyed every stitch! I see why people have become addicted to these sweaters! Yarn and pattern were purchased at the American Swedish Institute during the Bohus exhibit-which was extended until April 4 (or is it the 6th?)It is a must see. I used size 1 1/2 needles for the body and size 0 for the hem facings.Being blocked. I wet the sweater thoroughly, threaded blocking wires down the shoulders and arms and the sides which I pinned taut. I did not sew up the hem on the sleeves and bottom of the sweater until it was blocked, so I just pinned the bottom.
The final fitting!!!

And... this is the new kit for the Large Lace Collar Pullover! I hesitated to get this because of the black background but it is so beautiful. The kits are available from Sweden from Solveig Gustafson, www.solsilke.se . Service was great! I ordered it on a Saturday and received the kit 11 days later. (She probably didn't receive my payment until Monday in Sweden, which makes it only 9 days until it arrived in my mailbox.)

Arnhild's Knitting Camp

Again, a fun weekend in Ames, Iowa for Arnhild's Knitting Camp. I'm sorry, I was terrible taking pictures. Elsebeth Lavold was the guest, teaching Viking knitting. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and learning how to add cables going in many directions from photographs. Very liberating. Here is my class project, the top design from the diagram on the right.Arnhild always has a door prize for everybody. Here is mine.

Of course shopping is available. Denise's Needle Works is the retail shop for the Norwegian yarns Arnhild imports. Arnhild does the wholesale. My daughter in law convinced me to make a sweater for my son-it will be perfect for him hanging out in hockey rinks while his children play hockey. Hopefully it will be a Christmas present!

Hanging out in the evening. Some of us (my daughter in law, Bea) continued to knit...

And the rest of us relaxed! (my daughter, Gloria)

Being with my daughter, daughter in law and sister all weekend made the time such fun. Gloria had met Pam at camp a couple years ago and the two of them really enjoyed each other. We had such fun at our table people were anxious to join us to see what was going on.
