Ez's Green Sweater

When I heard the history of this sweater, I just had to make it! I have always been a fan of Elizabeth Zimmermann. She made this sweater for her god daughter over 50 years ago and never made any notes about the construction. The sweater was worn by both the god daughter and her daughters for all these years and was pretty worn out, so she wanted it repaired. It was beyond repair but Sunday Holm heard about it and decided to duplicate it, which she did and wrote out the pattern. The story of the reconstruction can be found at www.twistcollective.com and the pattern is available at www.schoolhousepress.com

Oops! This is the sweater body upside down. It is started at the bottom hem-which is at the top of the picture. There are 4 steeks-2 for the sleeves and 2 for the front, one to the neckline and one for the upper neckline. The white running stitches are the steeks, ready to be stitched and cut. Phoney seams at the underarms.
The bottom hem, turning ridge and shaping for the mitered facing.
This is my Olympic challenge. (Choose a project which is a challenge, but do-able to be completed during the Winter Olympics.)I cast on at the opening ceremony and hope to finish the knitting portion of the sweater at the closing ceremony. I didn't set my goal to finish the sweater because I thought the steeks would be done at the end and I won't be home, near a sewing machine for the last 3 days of the Olympics.

Norwegian Sweater

The sweater was finished by the 12th day of Christmas. My son finally received it and it fits! The pattern was to add red, green and gold duplicate stitch around the big snowflakes, but I liked it this way. I did do the duplicate stitch in the red bands.

To My Valentine

I love you because:

1. You fill my life with color.
2. You encourage my creativity.
3. You keep my hands busy.
4. You introduce me to new people who share my love for you.
5. You love to travel.
6. You like the same TV shows that I like.
7. You keep the same schedule as I do. If I want to knit in the middle of the night, you are there for me.
8. You like to change bags as much as I do.
9. You challenge me.
10. You keep me company when I'm cranky.
11. You calm me when I'm stressed.
12. You don't mind how much money I spend on you, how much time I shop for you or how many shops I visit looking for you or companions for you.
13. You make the time go by fast.
14. You keep me company when I have to wait-even at long stop lights.
15. You don't care how much I weigh.
16. You don't care what I wear or if I shower or shave my legs.
17. You always listen and don't talk back.
18. You don't even mind when I swear at you.

I love my knitting!

I found the pattern/Weather

I found the pattern for the Christmas stockings. Not in my house, but at a LYS, thanks to Ravelry. Since I purchased the pattern, 2 other people have offered me theirs and I fully expect mine to show up some place.
Frosty morning.

Looking for Pattern

I've been searching my house for this pattern and cannot find it! I have made 9 of the stockings and my grand daughter has requested one for her daughter and I would like it to be like the ones I made for all my grand children.

These are 4 of the stocking I have made. What was fun with these was I let them choose the pattern and the colors. I questioned some of the choices when they told me, but the socks turned out beautifully. I like theirs better than the ones the parents chose for the ones too young to make the decision.

If anyone has a copy of this pattern that they would sell to me, let me know.

Quack Quack

My daughter, Margaret, has illustrated a book! Her ex-husband's grandmother wrote the story of a pet duck named Quack Quack that she had as a child and asked Margaret to illustrate it. Here are a couple of the illustrations.

(I have copies I will sell!)
