Saturday Sky on Sunday 10-31-10

Again, I forgot but I think today's sky and weather is like yesterday. Temperature now, at 2 PM is 51. Not bad for Halloween.

MN Knitters' Days

This is the present location of the first MN Knitters' Days at Silver Lake Camp in New Brighton, MN, many years ago. It was a strange feeling visiting the site a few days before I was going to the present day site at Villa Maria in Frontenac, MN.
Susanna Hansson was the instructor, teaching the Lapland mitten from Rovaniemi, Finland.

Besides knitting, sometimes we sold something that didn't fit when finished. Nancy, on the left, knit this beautiful sweater which she didn't like the way it looked on her. Barb tried it on and it was beautiful on her. (I didn't think it looked bad on Nancy.)

Show and Tell is a highlight of the weekend! Karen's shawl was a highlight of Show and Tell.

There were also shopping opportunities.

This is a work in progress, showing the way it is worked. The construction varies a little from Norwegian colored work and Fair Isle.

Three Irish Girls Yarn

I have fallen in love with Three Irish Girls Yarn! In fact, I am fanatic about it as you can see by the pictures. I have purchased these just in the last couple months. I even convinced my husband to take a trip to Duluth for the day-the real reason was to see if Yarn Harbor carried the yarn. (They did!) This yarn is by a woman in Duluth, so I like to support local artists.

Westerly Sea Sock. 70% superwash Merino, 30% seacell (natural seaweed fiber). Color Adorn. I purchased this from someone on Ravelry who was destashing.

Beckon Stretch Merino, color Forest Primeval from Yarnista Sock Club. Yes, I joined that sock club, too. http://www.threeirishgirls.com/.

This is McClellan Fingering, 65% Merino, 25% Bamboo, and 10% Nylon, color Maura. Pattern for socks is Small Wing Socks from Box of Socks



Adorn Sock, color Passion Punch, 80% Merino, 20% Nylon. I purchased this at Darn Knit Anyway in Stillwater.

Another beautiful day! Clear blue sky with temperature in the mid 60's. Not bad for October in MN!

A friend of ours is giving away hand knit hats for a donation to raise funds for her two year old grandson, Caleb, who recently had a bone marrow transplant for some awful disease. These are the hats I gave to her.

Saturday Sky 10-09-10

A beautiful day for October 9th! Clear blue sky, colored leaves, and a temperature in the 80's! We're enjoying every minute of it-last year we had 2 1/2 inches of snow on this day.

Christmas Knitting Started

This week I started my Christmas knitting. I don't have much planned--yet. Above is one of two idenical Christmas stocking for my great grand daughters. Below is a Green Bay Packers neck scarf for my daughter in law.

Saturday Sky 10-02-10

This weekend my daughter, sister, and I had signed up for a knitting camp in Ely, MN, but it was cancelled because not enough people had signed up. To compensate, my daughter, Gloria, and I went to Stillwater, MN. The trees are changing colors, and it was a beautiful day maybe getting up to 70, so everyone from the state of MN and WI was in Stillwater or at the orchards. As you can see, the St. Croix river is flooding from the rains we've had in September.
