Korknisse

This was a fun project at a time I didn't feel like knitting any of my current projects. I made the 3 in an evening. Nisse are mythical creatures in Scandinavia who protect farmers and their families especially at night.

Winter Wonderland Coat

The holidays have been busy, and I'm sorry I haven't posted much. I promise to improve! We had a wonderful Christmas, celebrating for over a week. For the first time ever, I decided to have an open house for my cousins I never see except for "big" occasions, like weddings or funerals. Since no weddings are in the future, the next time we'd likely get together would be a funeral. Since my husband and I are the oldest in our families, it's likely to be our funeral, and I don't want to see m cousins from a casket. I overdid myself in making lots of cookies and candies even though I'd said I would cut down. The weather didn't cooperate-a big snowstorm on that day, but my cousins did come. It was fun to see them. Our next celebration was with my sister and our families. Everyone was there except my son and his family as they were in Green Bay with her family. This year we decided not to give gifts, so had a wonderful time visiting-and eating! Christmas Day we were at one of our daughter's homes with all 4 of their children. My other daughter was there too, but not her boys who were with their father for Christmas. Again we ate, and spent the afternoon playing Apples to Apples. Our Christmas with our son his family and daughter and her boys was Sunday.
The only knit items I gave this year was the baby sweater I posted previously to our grand daughter who is expecting our first great grand child. She was so surprised I had made something so fast-we only learned about the baby after Thanksgiving. It was her first thing for the baby so that was exciting for her.
The other item is the Winter Wonderland Coat for my daughter in law. She was so happy with it-I think I detected tears when she opened it.

Errata for Kyler's Kardigan

Carol just e-mailed me with a correction in the new pattern.

Page 9 is incorrect and should be replaced with the following:

Reverse Shaping Process:
Row 1: Knit 28 (30, 32, 33, 35), Slip 1, Knit 1, Pass Slip Stitch Over (PSSO), Knit 10, Knit 2 together, Knit 25 (27, 29, 31, 32), yarn forward, slip last 3 stitches.

Row 2 and all even rows until Row 12: Knit across to last 3 stitches, yarn forward, slip last 3 stitches.

Row 3: Knit 28 (30, 32, 33, 35), Slip 1, Knit 1, PSSO, Knit 8, Knit 2 together, Knit 25 (27, 29, 31, 32), yarn forward, slip last 3 stitches.

Row 5: Knit 28 (30, 32, 33, 35), Slip 1, Knit 1, PSSO, Knit 6, Knit 2 together, Knit 25 (27, 29, 31, 32), yarn forward, slip last 3 stitches.

Row 7: Knit 28 (30, 32, 33, 35), Slip 1, Knit 1, PSSO, Knit 4, Knit 2 together, Knit 25 (27, 29, 31, 32), yarn forward, slip last 3 stitches.

Row 9: Knit 28 (30, 32, 33, 35), Slip 1, Knit 1, PSSO, Knit 2, Knit 2 together, Knit 25 (27, 29, 31, 32), yarn forward, slip last 3 stitches.

Row 11: Knit 28 (30, 32, 33, 35), Slip 1, Knit 1, PSSO, Knit 2 together, Knit 25 (27, 29, 31, 32), yarn forward, slip last 3 stitches.

Row 12: Knit across to last 3 stitches, yarn forward, Purl 3.

Finishing:
Fold hood in half and join with Kitchener stitch (p. 10) or three-needle bind off. Weave in yarn ends, then very neatly seam the ten-stitch Wallaby pouch “beginning ten stitch tab” to sweater front. I found using sewing thread worked for me while Ann suggested using three strands of DMC floss, especially because she could accurately match colors. (I suspect she has a large stash of DMC floss from her many cross stitch projects!)

Collar Variation:
Follow hood instructions through “Hood Shaping” increases, incorporating “built-in I cord.” Then change to Garter Stitch and knit for 2” (2”, 2.5”, 2.5”, 3”) more. Bind off loosely from wrong side and don’t forget the “avoiding the dog ear” trick on page seven.

Winter Wonderland Coat

The Winter Wonderland Coat is knit and is now blocked. ALL that is left is the seaming. I did prevent two seams by making the side gussets in the same pieces as the coat fronts. You can kind of see the gusset overlap on the picture. After seeing the pictures, I did go back and readjust some of the areas.
