Christmas Socks

These two pictures are from Christmases Past. One family's stockings of two missing.

These were added this year. All were made from the pattern A Baker's Dozen Christmas Stockings by Two Old Bags-now out of print-and Rauma Strikkgarn with sizes 1 and 2 needles.

Christmas Baking

These are the cookies I made this year for Christmas. Why is it the only time I make these favorites is at Christmas? The plate is from my beginning collection of Polish Stoneware.Wish you could join me for coffee/tea and cookies.

Christmas Knitting

Both of these socks are done. Would you believe I discovered a third "rurr" which I had to duplicate stitch into "purr"?

The slippery socks are done and wrapped.

The last Christmas sock is to the gusset. It won't be ready for Christmas Eve, but it will be ready for our family gift exchange with his family on the 27th.

How Could I Have Done This?

How could I have done this on both socks?????

A little duplicate stitch covers a lot of mistakes!!

Saturday Sky 12-18-10

Cloudy all day with a high about 16 degrees. Nice sunset.

Wool Girl Java Kit

Wool Girl kits are such fun to receive! This was a good one!

The yarn is kind of a strange color, but it is dyed with natural products which makes it special.

Gadget Case

This is the best gadget case! I got it at Cabella's in the fishing department. Each container opens separately except the large one on the right. That section has removable partitions so can be arranged any way you want it. I've taken 2 of the partitions out. Just about everything I need is in this case.

Saturday Sky 12-11-10

The sky is there behind the falling and blowing snow. This was taken from my front door-I couldn't get out because the snow was so deep. Blizzard conditions. I cancelled my classes for today.

Sock Blanket

A couple years ago I started this sock blanket knowing it would be a long-term project. In spite of all the Christmas knitting I have to do, last night this won out. I haven't worked on it for a long time, but the basket of yarn sits right in the doorway of my yarn closet, so I see it and long to work on it every time I have to step over it to get something-or more likely, to put something new into the closet. A few squares were done and it is back in the closet.

Christmas Knitting Progress

My Christmas knitting projects I planned were very manageable! At Thanksgiving, Bea's scarf was done.

Rylea's sock was knit, but needed a hanger and blocking. No problem.
Dani's sock was in progress. Still manageable.

Then, the week of Thanksgiving changed my agenda! My grand daughter, Sarah, wants "slippery socks" (Cottage Creations spiral tube socks). Started.

My son, Tim, nearly cried saying, "I'm the only one in our house who doesn't have a stocking with my name on." The yarn arrived yesterday. We'll see what happens.

My grandson-in-law requested slippery socks. I had this yarn in my stash.

The Christmas stockings are all from the book by Wool You Order called, "A Baker's Dozen Christmas Socks". The company changed it's name to Two Old Bags and this pattern is out of print, but Amazing Threads does have it and Borealis had it. I have made these socks for all 9 of my grand children and now the great grand children. I didn't think I'd have to make them for my children!

The "slippery socks" are from Cottage Creations book, "Projects for Community Knitting." All 9 of the grand children have had at least 1 pair-most have had 2 or even more. They were named slippery sock, because they liked to slide across the floors in them.

Saturday Sky 12-04-10

About 5 inches of soft, powdery snow last night. Bright sun and temp of 22 today. Beautiful! (Is this why we stay in MN?)

Cell Phone Cover

When I splurged and got myself a new cell phone, I wanted something to protect it in my purse, but not something bulky. This was made from left over sock yarn on size 1 1/2 needles. Cast on 44 sts. *K2, P1, K1, P1, K12, P1, K1, P1, K2, repeat from * until piece is 1/2 inch shorter than desired size. Work K1, P2 ribbing for 1/2-3/4 inches.

Three Irish Girls

Today's Yarnista yarn club selection arrived. The color of this yarn is more of a brown-sort of matches the 1/4 pound caramel, pumpkin flavored that arrived with it. It is heavenly-80% merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon. Waiting to see what Designs by Romi's next shawlette will be. This might be what it is made out of. The caramel is heavenly, too. I love caramel and the pumpkin flavoring is very subtle. Check out http://www.haveitsweet.com/ for the caramel. I couldn't make up my mind!
