Blocking Weekend

Traveling Sweater by Blue Moon Fiber. This has been a long knit! It is blocked and ready to sew together-but notice the edge is shorter on one side (the piece is folded in half and the 2 sleeves are blocked together). I apparently forgot one wedge, but luckily the ends are live stitches so just can knit the extra. There will be more postings on this when it is done.

This is the border of Taygete by Romi. I test knit this one and it was a fun knit-again. I love her shawls. http://www.designsbyromi.com/. The picture of the whole shawl drying didn't turn out, but I will post more about it at another time.

Cookie A Sock Club

Cookie A's February sock club arrived! What a winner! Included are 2 sock patterns, a skein of String Theory Yarn (80% merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon.) www.stringtheoryyarn.com and 2 cookie recipes. The Molten Chocolate cookies are on one of the new Polish stoneware plates I bought on our trip to New Glarus, WI last week.

The great grand children loved the cookies! I fed them sugar-then they went home! A grandma's privilege!

Worth Waiting For!

Romi's Shawl and Pin club shipment was shipped from California the week of January 17. Starting that day I watched my mailbox everyday waiting for it to arrive even before it was possible for it to come. I watched and I watched and I watched. I could see on Ravelry where kits were arriving on the East coast. Surely mine would be here the next day. No. The kits were received on the West coast. Still nothing in my mailbox. Then the mid west started receiving theres. Not me. At this point Romi checked to be sure it went out-it had. The day people in Australia received their's I was sure mine would come. Then people in Canada received their's. I even went to the post office and had them check the mail being held in our area in case it was sitting in someone's box. No, they couldn't find it. Romi sent me a new package and it arrived yesterday!
Romi's designs and jewelry are beautiful. www.designsbyRomi.com

Completed Mystery Sock

Family Jewels-Knitter's Brewing Company Mystery Sock. Clue 4.

Finished! They turned out too pretty to wear on my feet. They were fun to knit and had several new techniques. I usually don't like toe up socks because of the heels, but this one is great. It is the same as the one I usually use developed by Gerdene Strong.

New Clogs

These are the old ones. There are holes on the soles just like the one that shows. They are at least 5 years old, have been repaired with needle felting and are worn constantly. I love them!
Here are the new ones. Pattern is Fiber Trends Felted Clogs and yarn is Cascade 220.

Depression Knitting

My passion is knitting lace, especially shawls. I have 3 drawers full of shawls, plus a quilt rack overflowing. I am real excited to become one of Romi's (www.designsbyRomi.com) test knitters and to get into her shawl and pin club. She also makes beautiful jewelry, especially shawl pins. After my Christmas knitting and Christmas was over I was looking forward to the test knit pattern coming out and didn't have any lace on my needles. Romi had given test knitters a rest over the holidays, so impatient me, started watching for the pattern the day after Christmas. Well, she has had some problems with sizing, so the last news is it should be out in a few days. Then the end of January came and the shawl club package was sent out, so I diligently waited for that to arrive. I've watched as packages arrived on the east coast, then the west coast, then the mid west, but not mine. Then I saw someone in Australia received hers and then packages began arriving in Canada. But mine still hasn't come. (Romi is aware.) So yesterday after the mailbox was empty, I broke down and cast on this one. That should be the impetus for the package and the pattern to arrive!

This is Herbivore by Stephen West. The yarn is Three Irish Girls Adorn Sock in Colleen colorway. Needles are US 6/4mm. The color is beautiful and the pattern really shows it off. Even my husband commented on how pretty the color is.

New Yarn

More Three Irish Girls. This is the January Sock Club selection. the Yarnista Sock Club is a little different because about a month before the yarn is due to arrive you can choose between 2 colorways. I usually forget what I chose until it does arrive. This one Is Kinsale Merino Tencel-50% merino, 50% tencel.

This is one I ordered from The Sanguine Gryphon. The yarn is Skinny Bugga 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon. The color is a seasonal colorway-The Very Quiet Cricket.
