Another beautiful day! It is supposed to get warm and more humid, but now at noon I'm going out on the deck and knit.

Plumeria

Last summer in Hawaii, I fell in love with the plumeria. At the MN State Fair last August, I bought 3 plumeria "sticks" which were supposed to grow into plumeria trees. Two of them had leaves by fall, then hibernated but did not come back this spring. Last week I visited a friend who had just moved into a condo and she had 3 plumeria trees-one a good 4 feet high. She gave me her 2 small ones-the one pictured has blossoms, but no leaves. At the State Fair I also got one more "stick". If I'd known the ones last year were guaranteed, I could have saved the ones that didn't grow from last year I could have gotten them replaced. She felt sorry for me and gave me one anyway.

Olympic Challenge Done

Crossed the finish line at 10:15 AM, Wednesday, August 20.
Pattern: Ornette Sock by Cookie A
Yarn: Lang JaWoll Superwash
Needles: Size 1 1/2 US
Love these socks! They were fun to knit and not as hard as I anticipated. The patterning is so interesting the way the cable panels twist across the sock.

A beautiful summer day! Had a wonderful lunch and visit with a friend who lives here on the Mississippi River.
Temperature got up to mid 80's with a nice breeze. Now it's raining-6PM-and temperature has dropped down to 68.

Go for the Gold

This is my Olympic challenge. You choose a project which is a challenge, but not something that can't realistically be done. Cast on at the beginning of the opening ceremony and bind off before the flame is extinquished at the closing ceremony. The first sock is done and about an inch done on the second one-except I have to rip several rows when I'm done here.
Pattern: Ornette Sock by Cookie A. I thought these would be difficult, but they aren't bad at all. I'm enjoying them.
Yarn: JaWol
Needles: Size 1 1/2
